Cashify Payment Penalty: Is There a Late Fee?

By Cashify Editorial Team · Published

Quick answer: The Cashify store listings state a maximum APR of 30%, a one-time sign fee and a service fee, but they do not publish a separate late-fee table. Whether a late charge applies, and how much, is set out in the loan agreement shown in the app, so read that clause before you accept.

What the published terms say about penalties

The Google Play listing describes the following costs: a maximum APR of 30%, a transaction fee of 0, and a one-time sign fee and service fee (0% to 16%). The App Store listing words the fees differently. Neither listing includes a table of penalties for late payment.

That does not prove that no late charge exists. It means the information is not published in the store descriptions, so the agreement inside the app is the place to look. For all the published figures, see Cashify loan terms, and to see how Cashify costs compare with other lenders, visit our main page.

Separate fees: service fee vs. late charges

It helps to keep three kinds of cost apart:

Cost What it is When it applies
Interest A charge for the use of the money over the loan term Throughout the loan
Service fee / sign fee Charges tied to making the loan When the loan is made
Late charge or penalty An extra charge if a payment is missed (if the agreement provides for one) After the due date

The service fee is part of the normal cost of the loan, not a penalty. A late charge, if there is one, would be additional and should be stated in your agreement.

Example: how lateness could change your cost

Because Cashify has not published a late-fee formula, we cannot give a real figure. To understand the principle, imagine that interest continues to accrue on an unpaid balance. In the lender's own sample, interest on ₱10,000 at 12% a year is about ₱3.29 per day, so a delay of a week adds roughly ₱23 in interest if the rate keeps running on the full principal. That is only an illustration of how time adds cost; any actual late charge would be what your agreement says. The loan calculator guide explains the arithmetic.

How to avoid penalties

  1. Know your dates. Put every due date in a calendar with a reminder.
  2. Pay early. Paying a day or two before the due date leaves room for delays in e-wallets or banks.
  3. Pay the full amount shown. Do not guess; the app shows the installment due.
  4. Keep receipts. If a payment does not show, send the receipt to support immediately.
  5. Contact support early. If you foresee a problem, write before the date and keep the reply.

Questions to ask support before paying late

If you are already close to the due date and may be late, ask in writing:

Save the reply. A written answer protects you if the figures later change.

What the rules say about collection

A late charge is a matter of the agreement; how the lender chases a late payment is governed by rules on fair collection. The SEC prohibits threats, insults, obscenity and deceptive means in debt collection, and the National Privacy Commission restricts use of your contact list for harassment. Check the whole cost, not only penalties

A loan with no mention of penalties can still be expensive if the service fee and interest are high. When you compare lenders, look at the total repayment if you pay on time, and also ask what extra charges apply if you do not. Our guide to how to compare online loan costs shows the method, and the interest rate page explains Cashify's published figures.

What to do if you think you were charged wrongly

A habit that saves money

The cheapest penalty is the one you never pay. Treat the due date as the last day, not the target day. If your income arrives on the same day as your due date, move your repayment to the day your money lands and set a reminder the evening before. If you are two installments behind on any loan, stop and recalculate your budget instead of hoping the next payday will cover everything. Small habits such as keeping a buffer in your e-wallet make late charges far less likely.

If a message claims you owe a "penalty" that does not appear in your app, do not pay it. Open the app, compare the figure, and ask support for an itemized statement in writing.

Keep the agreement handy

Save a copy of the loan agreement or a set of screenshots of the terms right after you accept. Late-payment rules are easy to forget, and if you ever disagree about a charge, the agreement you accepted is the reference point. Store it with your receipts so that everything about the loan is in one place.
